Overview of the Position

The Accounting and Grants Associate will be responsible for general accounting duties, (including accounts payable and receivables & payroll processing) and grants management support. This position works closely with both our finance/accounting/HR departments and with the grants management department.



Reports to:        Two Staff: Director of Finance & Senior Grants Manager




  • Process daily, weekly, and month end accounting duties in cloud accounting software. Adjusts prepaids and depreciation, records receivables, and posts deposits.
  • Train staff and provide support on accessing, tallie, readypay, and intacct.
  • Process accounts payable in Reviews all receipts for accuracy and coding.
  • Assists employees with month end submission of expense reports and reviews coding, receipts, and expense accuracy.



  • Prepare payroll using cloud HRIS (Human Resources Integration System) system
  • Update employee records in HRIS system
  • Support staff with access to HRIS system and troubleshooting as needed


Grants Management

  • Create initial drafts of grant agreement letters using merge software in grants database
  • Code and create grant payment records in grants management system, ensure proper syncing into accounting software
  • Provide technical assistance for program staff and grantees on grants management database
  • Assist with grantmaking process and database management
  • Provide database training for new staff



  • 2 years’ experience in nonprofit accounting and processing payroll
  • Grants management experience preferred
  • Experience with cloud accounting and expense reporting systems required, Intacct,, and Tallie preferred.
  • Experience with CRM/grants management systems required, Salesforce preferred.
  • Comfort with cloud based apps and ability to work in a paperless environment.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
  • Sensitivity to matters requiring confidentiality
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Windows Suite

  • Ability to work remotely with staff members throughout the country.



Status:                       Full-time, Regular, Exempt, benefits eligible

Salary Range:           $60-75k

Location:                    Flexible Location, USA*

Reports to:                Director of Finance and Senior Grants Manager
