As a mission-driven professional service firm with our people as our core asset, Arabella is seeking an exceptional leader of our Culture and Talent (CAT) team who can continue to build and manage a team that provides excellent service to Arabellans, recruits and retains outstanding team members, and helps the firm achieve its strategic goals. This leader must be able to set a firm-aligned long-term vision and strategy for the CAT team that will position it to serve a diverse and inclusive organization, which will double in size over the next few years. CAT’s leader will also need to be a clear and thoughtful communicator who can serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. A successful CAT leader must effectively deliver the foundational elements of HR – recruiting, payroll, benefits, HR compliance – but also innovate and successfully oversee firmwide transformational changes. Arabella needs a CAT leader who can find and manage the right balance between client service, team resource needs, and business goals.
Essential Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
  • Set long-term – and firm-strategy aligned – vision and strategy for the team
  • Set and oversee implementation of the team’s strategy and annual objectives/priorities
  • As a senior participant on the Compensation Committee, design and oversee the implementation of the firm’s market competitive total rewards program, including salary structure, bonuses, and benefits
  • As a senior participant on the DEI working group, design and oversee the implementation of the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy
  • Ensure critical HR information systems are in place and (as needed) evolving to meet the firm’s HR business needs
  • Develop smart and firm-aligned business cases for the team’s needed resources, advocate for them, and properly manage their distribution
  • Oversee CAT-related vendor relationships (e.g., attorneys, benefit brokers), and recommend necessary changes to properly service the firm as it scales
  • Support the firm and team in implementing transformational change
 Leadership & Management
  • Serve as a direct supervisor for CAT team members
  • Foster the team’s understanding of firm strategy, needs, and decisions
  • Oversee and promote activities that boost the firm’s culture, values, and employer value proposition
  • Build strong, accessible relationships with leaders and team members across the firm
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce planning/strategy and talent retention
  • Ensure CAT is able to communicate in approachable, empathetic, responsive, and effective ways
  • Develop a communications plan for benefits and other core HR components, and deliver critical human resources communications firmwide
  • Solve HR challenges creatively and compliantly
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing within CAT and across teams
  • Oversee payroll and benefits functions that allow minimal to no errors
  • Build efficiency and redundancy into fundamental HR processes (e.g., payroll processing, benefits administration)
  • Oversee the HR compliance function and ensure Arabella is following all applicable HR laws
  • Coordinate our ombudsperson program
  • Provide accurate personnel metrics and reporting to management and executives to inform firmwide strategy
  • Ensure CAT’s services meet team and firmwide standards
  • Set clear and reasonable boundaries and expectations for CAT services for all relevant stakeholders
Learning & Development
  • Innovate and oversee a performance management program that aligns with firm strategy and best-in-class programs in the professional service firm sector
  • Develop Arabella’s management corps; oversee development and implementation of the firm’s management training programs
  • Collaborate with client services teams on development of learning programs
  • Oversee the firmwide orientation program for new Arabellans
Talent Acquisition
  • Oversee Arabella’s recruiting strategy and implementation, including a focus on diversity and pipeline building
  • Oversee Arabella’s employer recruiting brand and related collateral
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • HR certification from HRCI and/or SHRM
  • 10+ years of experience in HR, OD, or related field
  • 5+ years of leadership and management experience
  • HR experience in a professional service firm
  • Experience managing HR in an organization with 300 to 400+ employees
  • Experience leading strategy and budgets over $1M+
  • Experience as an HR business partner
  • Experience designing performance management programs
  • Leadership experience in designing compensation programs
  • Exceptional project manager
  • Experience managing DEI programs
  • Experience managing payroll and benefit functions
  • Management skills in implementing HR information systems
  • Experience overseeing a talent acquisition function
  • Experience successfully managing company-wide transformational changes
  • Ability to speak effectively with non-HR professionals about HR
  • Experience communicating with executives and management
