The Out in the South Fund continues its work of supporting and building sustainable LGBTQ funds led by and for LGBTQ Southerners and shaped by a commitment to racial and gender justice. This strategy is a response to the decades of underfunding of Southern LGBTQ communities and is designed to build long-term resources for a healthy movement ecosystem of LGBTQ organizations rooted in the South. Funders for LGBTQ Issues is looking for a consultant – or team of consultants – to help us strengthen our capacity to integrate gender justice across all aspects of our work, from human resources and operations to programming and events. In our strategic planning process last year, we identified this as an area in need of strengthening, and we are now embarking on a process to become a stronger gender justice organization. Statement on El Paso and Dayton Shootings

This past weekend, two mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio took the lives of at least 31 people, with many more injured. Everyone at Funders for LGBTQ Issues stands in mourning and solidarity with all of those who lost loved ones and who are suffering from grief and shock in the wake of this attack. That such terrible violence is becoming increasingly common place is reason for alarm and action.
