$10.5 Million Awarded by Grantmakers Worldwide to LGBTI Organizations Working in the Global South and East

Forty grantmakers from around the world awarded nearly $10.5 million to groups working on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) issues in the Global South and East, according to a historic report just released by Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues (FLGI), a national philanthropic group based in New York City. The report—“A Global Gaze: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Grantmaking in the Global South and East”—represents the first-ever study analyzing LGBTI grantmaking and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in those regions. Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues Presents Briefing on International LGBTI Grantmaking at the Open Society Institute

Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues (FLGI) presented a briefing on international LGBTI grantmaking and grantee organizations—previewing a first-ever report on the subject—Thursday, June 21 at the Open Society Institute’s New York headquarters. The briefing was part of OSI’s Sexual Health and Rights Project (SHARP) and U.S. programs. FLGI and ADAM Queer Youth Initiative Announce 2007 Awardees

Four LGBTQ community foundations and funds have been selected to receive multi-year, matching grants as part of the FLGI + ADAM Queer Youth Initiative at Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues, an initiative to support organizations and activities that serve or address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth. The four grantees are: the Berks County Community Foundation (Reading, PA), the Columbus Foundation (Columbus, OH), the Cream City Foundation (Milwaukee, WI), and the Pride Foundation (Seattle, WA).
