Event Details

Since the 2016 presidential election, LGBTQGNC activists and movements have been faced with unprecedented challenges in their work.  In this context, flexible, rapid response, justice oriented philanthropy becomes an important asset for frontline activists to re-tool and shift strategies quickly and are forced to respond to new threats to their work.  An Open Road Alliance survey of 200 nonprofits and 200 funders in the United States found that funders should anticipate that at least 1 in 5 of their grantees will face an unforeseen, disruptive event that requires contingency funding during any given grant year.

This workshop will explore how donors are both individually and collaboratively providing rapid response grants with an intersectional lens. Participants will learn the mechanisms of rapid response grantmaking, the rapid response needs for LGBTQGNC activists and movements, and why rapid response funding is integral strategy in the ecosystem of grantmaking. The workshop will be a combination of panel discussion, breakout discussion and reflection.
