2021 Grants Available Through the Philadelphia Foundation 

 

We are pleased to announce Philadelphia Foundation’s 2021 discretionary, competitive grant application deadlines.  All organizations seeking support should have a mission focus of positively impacting high poverty populations in Greater Philadelphia. 

 

 

Application Due Dates:

 

 

To be considered for a grant in: 

  • April 2021, applications should be received by February 12
  • June 2021, applications should be received by April 16
  • November 2021, applications should be received by September 10

 

Direct Service Unrestricted Grants

  • Unrestricted grants are available on a competitive basis for well-run, direct-service nonprofits serving communities with high poverty rates.  
  • Priority will be given to organizations serving communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
  • Nonprofits with budgets under $10 million 
  • Grant amounts range between $15,000 to $30,000.

Impact Program Grants

  • Program grants are available on a limited and competitive basis to nonprofits demonstrating programmatic impact. 
  • Emphasis will be on programs that improve the lives of people served. 
  • Grant amounts range between $15,000 to $30,000.

Advocacy Unrestricted Grants

  • Unrestricted grants are available on a competitive basis for organizations addressing policy changes in relation to racial and social justice.
  • Applicants should be using advocacy and community organizing best practices on behalf of low-income and historically disenfranchised communities in Greater Philadelphia. 
  • Grant amounts range between $15,000 to $30,000.

Leadership Grants

  • Capacity building grants are available on a competitive basis to increase measurable skills and racial diversity of pipelines for senior staff and board of nonprofits and to strengthen organizational capacity and nonprofit leaders in the areas of governance, planning, civic engagement, board and staff development and diversity, equity and inclusion. 
  • Successful applicants will demonstrate organizational readiness and a level of commitment to leadership development.
  • Grant amounts range between $15,000 to $50,000.

Fund for Children Strategic Investment in Youth Grants

  • General operating support is available for Philadelphia-based youth organizations whose missions prioritize youth leadership, civic engagement and youth organizing activities and outcomes.  Learn more.

Free Capacity Building Support

  • Organizations can expand their capacity in such areas as marketing, web development, operations, strategy and more through a partnership with pro-bono talent.
  • Available to Greater Philadelphia nonprofits at no cost.

  • Processes will remain the same in 2021 for Henrietta Tower Wurts Memorial and special initiative grants supported through our partners and donors.
