About DTJ
Note: DTJ is only open to professionals at grantmaking (not grantseeking) institutions and staff at philanthropic support organizations.Â
Funders United for Democracy & Trans Justice (DTJ) is a trans-inclusive philanthropic advocacy initiative that supports the philanthropic sector to bridge the gap between existing resources for trans communities and the systemic, escalating threats to trans communities across the country. The human rights of trans people are essential to a healthy democracy.
The purpose of DTJ is to build new learning spaces for philanthropic organizers to better understand what’s at stake for trans communities, given the current political environment. DTJ will offer the latest updates on grantmaking for trans communities and will provide spaces for funders to strategize and share best practices for abundantly resourcing queer and trans movements.Â
DTJ is an initiative of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and is co-chaired by Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation (FCCP).

Study Hall
The DTJ Study Hall is a structured learning community to deepen our engagement, a space where we are building our leadership capacity—a facilitated peer group to provide conversation and dialogue around trans issues. It pulls in the cohort that we want to create of philanthropic leaders.
We’re excited to invite you to our first-ever DTJ – Study Hall. This session is an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, strengthen relationships across our network, and spend dedicated time exploring our Anti-Trans Legislation Issue Brief, released publicly in late July. Rather than a traditional presentation, this gathering will be conversation-centered, allowing participants to share experiences, exchange ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another in a collaborative setting.
