QTPIES Community Norms

QTPIES is a space where LGBTQ+ philanthropic professionals can come together authentically, so creating a respectful and open environment is essential. These community norms help ensure that every QTPIES gathering is a supportive, dynamic, and inclusive experience. As members, we aim to foster a place where everyone feels valued, heard, and safe.

Honor Confidentiality & Anonymity

We encourage sharing personal experiences while maintaining a commitment to confidentiality. This means stories stay within QTPIES, while valuable lessons and insights are what we take with us. Trust is central to our community.

Use the ‘Raise Hand’ Function in Full Group Discussions

During large group conversations, we use the ‘raise hand’ feature to maintain order and ensure everyone gets a chance to speak. This keeps our dialogues focused and respectful, making space for all voices.

Participate in Ways That Work for You

Whether it’s turning off your video, taking a break, or stepping away from certain discussions, we honor different participation needs. This flexibility allows each person to engage in a way that respects their energy and comfort.

Bring Curiosity, Seek Clarity

We invite curiosity and encourage members to ask questions. Approaching one another with openness builds a richer understanding and strengthens our shared knowledge.

Be Patient with Yourself & Others

Recognizing that we all bring unique experiences and capacities, we give grace to ourselves and others. QTPIES is an emergent space, and our gatherings are dynamic and time-limited. Patience helps us make the most of the time we have.

Take Responsibility for Impact

We commit to taking responsibility for the impact of our words and actions, regardless of intent. This norm fosters a culture of accountability and care within our community.

Address Hurt or Harm

Should you experience hurt or harm in the space, we encourage you to address it in a way that feels comfortable for you. We are committed to responding thoughtfully and following up as needed to foster a safe and supportive environment for all.

These norms ground our gatherings, helping us create a space where LGBTQ+ philanthropic professionals can connect meaningfully and build a thriving community.
