Meet Andrew and Terry: The Newest Members of Our Funders for LGBTQ Issues Family

By: Andrew Wallace on November 6, 2016

This September, we were thrilled to welcome Terry Boggis and Andrew Wallace to the Funders for LGBTQ Issues team. We are pleased to congratulate them as well as Rebecca Wisotsky, who was recently promoted to the newly created position of Director of Philanthropic Outreach. As we head into the fall, we’re excited for all our members and partners to meet the newest additions to our family.

Our new Research and Communications Associate

Andrew Wallace has joined the team as our new Research and Communications Associate. In that capacity, Andrew will work closely with Director of Research and Communications Lyle Matthew Kan and the rest of the team to produce Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ annual Tracking Report. He will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ extensive database of LGBTQ grants, drawing on that data to help staff and members articulate the ways in which LGBTQ communities are affected by a range of grantmaking priorities.

Prior to Funders for LGBTQ Issues, Andrew was a program manager at StoryCorps, where he launched and led the OutLoud Initiative, a project dedicated to documenting and amplifying the voices of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people across the United States.

“In his time at StoryCorps, Andrew didn’t only exceed expectations, he redefined them.” says Lyle Matthew Kan, Director of Research and Communications. “Andrew is a thoughtful professional who is not only extremely friendly and approachable but also possess an unwavering dedication to social justice. He is a great fit for our team, and I can’t wait for all our members and partners to meet him!”

Our new Executive & Operations Assistant

Terry Boggis has joined the team as our new Executive & Operations Assistant. Terry will work closely with Ben and the Board of Directors to increase the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Most recently, Terry was Director of the Ettelbrick Family Project at Stonewall Community Foundation. Prior to that, she served as Director of Family Programming at the LGBT Community Center in New York City for 17 years. Before she led family programming, she was Director of Communications for the Center. She also served as founding board member and co-chair of Queers for Economic Justice, serving on the board for more than 10 years.

“Terry has only just started with us, and it’s already such a pleasure working with her,” said Ben Francisco Maulbeck, President. “Her deep knowledge of the LGBTQ movement and disarming charm will be invaluable assets to Funders.”

The new Director of Philanthropic Outreach

Rebecca (Becca) Wisotsky has worked with Funders for LGBTQ Issues for more than a year and a half in a range of roles, including providing support for the annual Funding Forward conference and improving our outreach to new funders. Becca’s contributions to Funders have been invaluable, helping the organization’s membership grow to a record size and to attract more new funders to the annual Funding Forward conference than ever before.

To advance our strategic plan to increase foundation funding for LGBTQ Issues to $200 million, we have established a new role of Director of Philanthropic Outreach, focused entirely on reaching out to and supporting funders new to LGBTQ issues. “Becca is the perfect person to take on this new role,” said Ben Francisco Maulbeck, President. “She has already laid the foundation for expanding our philanthropic outreach, and her strategic thinking and knack for relationship-building make her ideally suited to build out this growing area of work for us.”

Please join us in congratulating Andrew, Becca, and Terry!
