As natural and man-made disasters increase in their frequency and intensity, how prepared is the philanthropic community to support LGBTQ victims? How do you prepare for the unthinkable and the unexpected?
From the Pulse Nightclub Massacre to Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, Irma, and Maria, LGBTQ people have been directly impacted by major disasters. This plenary will explore how to best support frontline LGBTQ service providers and how to provide the appropriate resources for recovery should your community suffer a disaster. It will address what philanthropy can do in advance of a disaster and how grantmakers might structure a rapid response following a disaster to make sure LGBTQ people and organizations can recover and begin to heal as quickly as possible.
