Meet Alex and our newest initiative – Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC)!

    This November, we were thrilled to welcome Alexander Lee to the Funders for LGBTQ Issues team as the inaugural Project Director of our newest initiative, Grantmakers United for Trans Communities or GUTC (pronounced “gutsy”). GUTC, an initiative born of the Trans Funding Working Group, aims to inspire a philanthropic culture that is inclusive and supportive of trans people through grantmaking and decision-making. Funders for LGBTQ Issues Opposes Reversal of Protections for Trans Students

This evening, the Trump administration rescinded protections for transgender youth from discrimination in schools, based on the Title IX laws that prohibit discrimination based on sex. This decision sends a clear message that the Trump administration is no friend to LGBTQ people and will not protect the most vulnerable among us. Funders for LGBTQ Issues stands alongside many of our members and partners in firm opposition to this decision.
