Event Details

It is our pleasure to invite you to an upcoming webinar to learn more about the Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) Pledge on Tuesday, July 2nd, at 11am-12pm Pacific/2pm-3pm Eastern.

The GUTC Pledge is a new campaign from Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ GUTC initiative to encourage and support U.S. foundations to increase and expand their support for binary and nonbinary transgender and gender nonconforming people. Designed and coordinated by members of these communities working and volunteering in philanthropy, the pledge campaign specifically asks foundations of all types and sizes to commit to the following:

  1. Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities focused on supporting trans communities;
  2. Improve their recruitment and retention of trans and gender non-conforming staff and board members;
  3. Increase their grantmaking for trans communities, with a commitment to trans-led organizations; and
  4. Publicly express their support for and solidarity with trans communities.

The pledge officially launched in late March with an initial 30 foundations as signatories, ranging from small family foundations to some of the largest foundations in the country. The diverse group of grantmakers has since increased to 40 foundations — and is still growing.

In this webinar on the GUTC Pledge, we would like to update you on the current status of the pledge, its overall strategic direction, and offer concrete recommendations for how nonprofits led by binary and nonbinary transgender and gender nonconforming people (and in particular, QTPOC-led) can take full advantage of this new commitment by grantmakers to increase their support for trans communities in meaningful ways.
