The Top Ten Asian American and Pacific Islander LGBTQ Funders

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. According to the Williams Institute, there are an estimated 325,000 “out” LGBT AAPI individuals in the U.S. Between 2011 and 2012, AAPI LGBTQ communities received nearly $2.7 million in foundation funding – which accounts for approximately 1.4 percent of the total $196 million in domestic LGBTQ funding. UNDERSTANDING THE NONPROFIT LANDSCAPE: LGBTQ Work in the U.S. South

As part of Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ overall strategy to engage more philanthropic resources for LGBTQ communities in the U.S. South, the organization is conducting a landscape scan of current work in the South. The overall purpose is to create a picture of current work, build momentum for future funding and illustrate the range of opportunities for investment. My Gay Brother’s Keeper

Ten leading foundations recently announced a historic commitment to invest at least $350 million in grants to improve health, education, and economic outcomes for boys and young men of color.
